VI Scientific Symposium of the National Museum of Natural Sciences
The V Scientific Symposium of the National Museum of Natural Sciences (MNCN-CSIC) took place last week, and brought together researchers, students, and professionals to share their latest discoveries across various fields of natural science. This annual event served as a platform for fostering collaboration, exchanging ideas, and showcasing cutting-edge research related to biodiversity, ecology, evolution, and environmental science.
The MLab participants include Daniel Ramírez, Alicia Prior, and Camila Marín, who presented their most recent work 🧬🌍❄️ . Daniel and Alicia shared the results from their Master's theses, reflecting the high level of research being conducted at the Museum. Daniel's presentation focused on the diversity patterns of marine microorganisms in Antarctic surface waters 🧫❄️, offering new perspectives on how these microbial communities adapt to extreme environments. Alicia's research delved into the Antarctic krill microbiome🦐, exploring the complex relationships between the krill's body parts and the microorganisms that inhabit them.
Camila Marín contributed her latest findings on the changes that occur during the spring-to-summer transition in Antarctica. Her research highlighted how seasonal shifts in ocean conditions influence the gene expression of microbes, shedding light on key ecological processes in Antarctic waters.
The symposium was not only a showcase of innovative research, but also a space for discussing emerging challenges and advancing scientific understanding across multiple disciplines, making it a dynamic and enriching experience for all involved.
