Marc is back to the lab!

🧪🌊 During a two-month research stay at ICM-CSIC, Marc received advanced training in Empirical Dynamic Modeling (EDM) and applied these approaches to a 20-year marine microbial time series from the Blanes Bay Microbial Observatory. Using EDM tools such as Simplex projection, S-map, Convergent Cross Mapping (CCM), and Multiview distance regularised S-map, he investigated causal relationships among marine microorganisms, identified key microbial drivers, and explored how interaction networks vary across seasonal environmental conditions.

🧫🤝 Marc also became involved in the experimental component of the MAORI project, aimed at validating the exchange of metabolites between pairs of coexisting microorganisms predicted to interact cooperatively. In addition, he participated in mesocosm experiments within the ONEBLUE project to investigate the effects of emerging contaminants, ocean acidification 🌡️, and rising temperatures 🌍 on marine microbial communities.
