MLab on Spanish National Radio

On 14 July, members of the MLab had the pleasure of participating in the Spanish National Radio program Españoles en la Mar (RNE) to discuss our recently published study, "Microbial Fingerprinting of Marine Water Masses in an Antarctic and Hydrographically Complex Area."

During the interview, we shared how microbial communities can act as biological fingerprints of different Antarctic water masses, providing valuable insights into oceanographic processes and highlighting the potential of marine microbiomes as indicators of environmental change.

It was a truly rewarding experience to bring our research beyond the scientific community and communicate it to a wider audience. Public outreach is an essential part of science, helping to connect society with current research and demonstrating how microorganisms can reveal important information about the functioning and conservation of marine ecosystems.

We are grateful to the team at Españoles en la Mar for the invitation and for giving us the opportunity to share our work with their listeners. Experiences like this remind us of the importance of making science accessible and engaging for everyone.
