Polar seminar: Alfonso Sáiz-López
Today we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Alfonso Sáiz-López (CSIC) for an inspiring seminar titled:
🧊 "Polar Halogens: Atmospheric and Climate Implications" 🌬️
Polar halogens — organic and inorganic compounds containing chlorine, bromine, and iodine — are emitted from polar ice into the atmosphere. Once there, they participate in complex chemical processes that influence the concentration of short-lived climate forcers such as methane, tropospheric ozone, and aerosols. ☁️
Dr. Sáiz-López offered a fascinating overview of the current understanding of these processes and their crucial role in shaping polar atmospheric composition and climate interactions. 🌍🧪
